Service Description

Growing up I had a lot of insecurities so I never felt comfortable in my own skin. At 8 years old my mother got me involved in youth sports and while sports didn't solve my insecurities they set me on the right path to figure it out. Youth sports teaches discipline, sportsmanship, perseverance and teamwork. They build self esteem, social skills, and provide a routine for physical activity. The invaluable lessons that you learn you'll apply your entire life. But youth sports aren't for everybody. Active Kids provides a space to get ALL the same invaluable lessons without some of the pressure that can come along with playing youth sports, for kids as well as parents. Active Kids incorporates skills from various sports then puts them to the test with fun and creative ways to compete. Not all competition is toxic. Competition when applied the right way actually builds confidence and teaches humility. From a physical standpoint the goal is to increase body awareness which will improve athleticism as a byproduct. From an intangible standpoint in addition to lessons through sport we want kids to walk away with practical life skills. A topic of discussion will be incorporated into each session at lunch like ‘Change’ and different ways to navigate it. Change would then segue into trying different foods with ’Something new’ where they’d try a unique fruit and talk about the value of trying new things, even learning to cook. Organized sports aren't for everyone but contrary to popular belief athleticism isn’t just for athletes! Don’t leave your kids on the sidelines, get em’ active! Your kids will develop an intrinsic motivation to be physically active, as well as the intangibles of sport with the innovative approach and leadership of Active Kids.
